The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE), in collaboration with the State Education Resource Center (SERC), is sponsoring several professional learning opportunities for secondary transition.  All events listed below are FREE of charge.

CSDE/RESC Alliance/SERC 2021-2022 Person-Centered Planning: Introduction to Charting the LifeCourse

The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE), in collaboration with the RESC Alliance and the State Education Resource Center (SERC), is offering several FREE, virtual sessions of Person-Centered Planning: Introduction to Charing the LifeCourse.

Charting the LifeCourse, a universally-designed person-centered planning framework, is a tool to assist individuals and families of all abilities and ages to develop a vision of a good life. Participants in this session will understand the importance of person-centered/futures planning, become familiar with the LifeCourse tools, and how to use them to support the development of the individualized education program (IEP) and Transition Planning.

CSDE/RESC Alliance/SERC 2021-2022 Person-Centered Planning: Implementation of Charting the LifeCourse

The Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE), in collaboration with the RESC Alliance and the State Education Resource Center (SERC), is offering several FREE, interactive, hands-on virtual sessions of Person-Centered Planning: Implementation of Charting the LifeCourse

Charting the LifeCourse (CtLC), a universally-designed person-centered planning framework, is a tool to assist individuals and families of all abilities and ages to develop a vision of a good life.  Participants in this session take a deeper dive into CtLC and will understand the various ways to utilize CtLC to support student outcomes and partner with families, and discover ways to integrate CtLC within their organization.  In order to participate in this session, participants must have attended Person-Centered Planning: Introduction to Charting the LifeCourse (formerly titled Person-Centered Planning: LifeCourse Planning Tools).

CT Transition Community of Practice (CoP) and Transition Tuesdays

SAVE THE DATE – CT 7th Annual Secondary Transition Symposium: Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Today!

The CT Secondary Transition Symposium Planning Committee is pleased to announce the 7th Annual Secondary Transition Symposium, which will continue to build the capacity of educators and other professionals, in partnership with middle and high school students with disabilities and their families, to improve secondary transition planning and services for students with disabilities in order to Build Tomorrow’s Leaders Today.

The Symposium will be held virtually, over the course of three consecutive Tuesdays to break up the event. 

  • Tuesday, January 25, 2022: 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. – Keynote & Breakout Sessions
  • Tuesday, February 1, 2022: 12:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. – Breakout Sessions
  • Tuesday, February 8, 2022: 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – Film Screening + Facilitated Q&A/Panel Discussion

Each of our breakouts offer sessions within three strands, based on the audience (i.e., youth, families, and educators/professionals).
